Are you ok being wrong? Are you ok looking like a fool? Are you ok with people criticizing you, even those closest to you? Are you ok with people thinking you’re crazy or an insane person? Yes. Yes I am because they’re not living my life. They’re not taking risks. They’re not in the arena. It’s easy being on the sidelines criticizing everything someone does from behind a screen but it’s very different when you’re actually out there speaking your mind and voicing your opinion. You’re going to be on your own, a lot. That’s ok. I like my own company. Read this Twitter thread today about an investment analyst who quit his full-time investment job to run his own book and one of the comments he made was how lonely the process is. Are you ready for that loneliness? To sit on a metaphorical island all by yourself? Yes because I know that’s how you stand apart. You don’t accomplish great things in life without taking risks and doing something that seems crazy. To do that, you must stand alone when the world doubts you. Just keep pushing along, one foot in front of the other and focus on improvement and doing good work. Eventually, some may see your genius and you only need a few people to have a great life!
