They don't care, neither should you

They don’t care, neither should you.

They don’t care. Neither should you.

Never expect people to meet your expectations.

They won’t.

They were raised a different way.

Saw ‘normal’ completely differently from what you saw as ‘normal’.

Even if they do grow up in a similar environment, don’t expect anything.

Even when they’re family.

Found out this week that I was selected as an Emerging Leader in Healthcare for Canada.

A list of people under 40 shaping culture, art and Canada’s economy.

Something that felt so distant is now a reality.

A true honour.

Certain members of my family didn’t congratulate me.

Don’t know why I expected them to but it hurt.

Keep expectations of people low and don’t let them get to you.

Remember we’re all thinking about ourselves more than anyone else is.

No one cares about you.

Just like no one cares about me.

It’s all temporary.

Instead, you gotta show up for yourself.

You have to be your rock.

You have to be your own support system.

The world is not going to help you if you don’t help yourself.

People will disappoint you.

Many times in your life.

Get used to it.

Go in with low expectations and let people exceed them.

Show up and be around the ones that do.

The ones who show you they care through their actions.

Words are cheap, actions aren’t.

Can’t let situations like this bother you.

It’s here today, gone tomorrow.

Notice people’s actions and how they act.

Pay attention to what they do.

They’re not trying to be malicious if they don’t do something you expect.

They’re just the way they are.

Take them at face value.

If they disappoint you again and again, that’s who they are.

Accept it or move on.

Stop caring about their opinion.

They don’t care. Neither should you.
