It's not about you

It’s not about you:

It’s not about you.

It’s not your life.

It’s not your decisions.

It’s mine.

My life.

My choices.

My direction.

Will I live the life you want for me?

Absolutely not.

That’s the point.

It’s my life.

Not yours.

You may think you know.

You may think you have more understanding.

That you’ve learned more.

That you have advice to give.

Give it.

As you should.

You’ve lived.

You’ve learned.

Does it mean I have to listen to it?

No.

Like I said.

It’s my life

It’s my choices.

Will anyone care?

Probably not.

Will I care?

1000%.

Like I said.

It’s my life.

It’s my choices.

We think we have forever.

We think we have a long time.

We think we’ll leave an impact.

We won’t.

Even me.

I have almost 1300 blog posts since 2021.

Does that mean anything?

Absolutely not.

No one cares.

People don’t care.

But I do.

It matters to me.

The number matters to me

The impact matters to me.

I know people care.

I know people are paying attention.

It happened tonight.

A guy I’ve mentored for years.

Just been around.

A family friend.

He turned 25.

Awesome party.

Good bar.

Great vibes.

Good people.

Went out tonight.

Then his drunk self out of nowhere said.

‘Love you man.

You mean a lot to me.’

We’ve all been there.

Me more than most people.

You love everyone when you’re drunk.

But this was different.

This was honest.

It was genuine.

It was something he needed to say.

I’m glad he did.

Life is too short.

Tell the people around you ‘you love them.’

One day you won’t be able to.

And that day, you’ll only wish you were back.

Back to right now.

Back to that moment.

Learned a lot tonight.

Had a big heart-to-heart with my brother.

Heard his perspective on me.

On my life.

Thinks I’m off.

Off doing my own thing.

Making decisions that no one cares about.

That does’t matter to people.

Good.

That’s the point.

I’m not living for him.

It’s not his life.

It’s mine.

I will make my decisions.

I will do my thing.

Like writing this.

This matters to me.

This is important.

Even if no one reads this.

I don’t care.

I did this.

I showed up.

I tried.

I spoke my opinion.

Even when no one cared.

Saw Project Hail Mary today.

What a great movie.

A reminder.

Some people are destined for greatness.

Some people are not.

But they show up.

They try.

They do their best.

They think on their feet.

And one day they may meet someone.

Someone who gives them something.

Gives them purpose.

People need to see it.

But it’s more than that for me.

It’s an understanding.

It’s a learning.

It’s a reminder.

This has to be for me.

It cannot be for anything else.

It has to matter to me.

I have to care about it.

I am not doing this for anyone else.

You can probably tell.

1200+ blog posts will get you there.

I know most people who know me will never read what I’ve written.

Ever.

They don’t know.

They don’t care.

Cool.

No problem.

My goal is not to write for everyone.

It’s to write for me.

It’s to show up.

It’s to try.

It’s to prove to myself I could do this.

I could create something no one else has.

I am a 1 of 1.

Ironman.

Doctor.

Author.

Poet.

And so much more to come.

I will never stop doing this.

Ever stop writing.

So thank you brother.

Thank you for showing me.

It’s not about you.
